It has been announced that former Leyton Orient hero Jay Simpson is currently training with the National League leaders in a bid to maintain his fitness.
The 30-year-old frontman has returned to the UK after his two year spell in the United States with Major League Soccer club Philadelphia Union recently came to an end.
Simpson is remembered by the O’s faithful for his prolific campaign in the 2015-16 season, where he found the net 24 times to help the East London club to a 7th place finish in League Two.
Speaking to the Docklands & East London Advertiser this weekend, Orient boss Justin Edinburgh confirmed rumors of Simpson’s presence at training but admitted that any potential deal to sign the 30-year-old could be tricky.
He said: “He’s been training with us, there is no secret about that.
“He knows a few of the lads, he rang me and asked me if he could use a few of the facilities, I had no problem with that so he is training with us.
“I’m not sure that we would come into Jay’s thinking, I don’t know, I would envisage that he is looking to remain in the Football League.”
