Bostik League catch up

Dorking Wanderers put in an extraordinary display to fire seven goals past Kingstonian (who promptly parted ways with manager Leigh Dynan) and strengthen their grip on top spot, raising hopes of yet another promotion.

Wanderers’ win was made all the more important as second placed Haringey Borough slipped up in a 3-1 loss at Carshalton Athletic, handing Dorking a six point lead at the summit.

Bognor Regis raised their hopes of an instant return to Step 2 by leaping into third with a comfortable 2-0 win over AFC Hornchurch, while fourth placed Folkestone Invicta came away from relegation threatened Harlow Town with a hard fought 4-2 win.

One of the league’s inform sides, Leatherhead continued their charge towards the play-off places after making it 13 points from five games with a narrow 1-0 victory against Bishop’s Stortford.

At the other end of the table, the crunch relegation battle between basement club Whitehawk and 20th placed Wingate & Finchley ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw, which in unlikely to particularly please either side.

Meanwhile, Jay Saunders’ return to management saw his Margate side net a late equalizer to secure a credible point at Tonbridge Angels.
