Former Wolverhampton defender George Elokobi signs for Aldershot Town

Aldershot Town have signed former Premier League defender George Elokobi on a deal until the end of the season following his release from Leyton Orient.

The 33-year-old was transfer listed in January “following actions that didn’t meet club standards at the league game against Ebbsfleet United”, Orient explained.

He left the National League leaders at the end of last month and has now signed for Gary Waddock’s struggling Shots.

The Cameroonian defender played 58 times in the Premier League for Wolverhampton Wanderers, totalling 103 games and 4 goals.

The 33-year old began his career at Dulwich Hamlet before he was scouted by Colchester United in 2004, he joined Wolves in 2008 where he stayed for six years before joining Oldham Athletic and then back to Colchester a year later.

He joined Leyton Orient following their relegation to the National League in 2017. He has also played for Chester City, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Braintree Town in loan moves throughout his career.

Aldershot are five points from safety and host second-placed Solihull Moors tonight.
