Moneyfields manager Dave Carter

Dave Carter finally got the chance to make a winning return as manager of BetVictor Southern League Moneyfields on Tuesday night after missing out at the weekend.
Carter – who only quit at the beginning of October after four years at the helm citing increased work commitments – would have taken the helm again on Saturday but for the wet weather and lunchtime postponement of Slimbridge’s visit to Dover Road.
Instead, he masterminded a thrilling 4-3 win over National League Aldershot in the Hampshire Senior Cup after agreeing to return to the Southern League Division One South’s Moneys at the end of last week.
Moneys were 3-0 up before Aldershot struck three times in five minutes after the break to make a game of it at Dover Road and almost ruin Carter’s winning return.
Former Horndean boss Carter, pictured, guided Moneyfields into the Southern League for the first time in their history after winning promotion from the Wessex League as Premier Division runners-up in 2016.
Last season, Carter’s Moneys made the play-offs after narrowly missing out on a berth in their first season following promotion from Step 5.
Carter returned after meeting up with Moneyfields chairman Pete Seiden. He’d said the door would remain open for him if he wanted to reconsider and Carter completed his U-turn after taking a holiday during his month away.
Moneyfields were frustrated on Saturday when their game was called off by officials two hours before the scheduled 3pm kick-off.
More heavy rain had been feared after a 1pm inspection but failed to materialise, leaving many fans and club officials taking to Twitter to vent their feelings.
