YOUR nostalgic (and quite poignant) review of the late Uriah Rennie immediately brought back the memory of an FA Cup first round replay match from 28 years ago on a cold winter’s night, in November 1997, between Non-League Solihull Borough and Darlington, of the old fourth division.
The clubs had drawn 1-1 at Darlington’s Feethams and a replay was, therefore, looked forward to with some intrigue – as it is, of course, always pleasing to see a Non-League side knock out a competitor from the Football League.
