Deductions hit the fans not the clubs

IN recent times, two Northern Premier League clubs have suffered from appalling ownership and both escaped liquidation by the skin of their teeth.
One of them was immediately penalised with a 10-point deduction and the other, in spite of failing to fulfil early fixtures, was not.
Perhaps, the suits that run the leagues will explain the anomaly – but I’m not holding my breath!
I agree that rule breakers must be punished but a punishment that impacts the innocent, ie; the players and the fans, is ill-considered.
Perhaps points deductions could be suspended for a season ...
