Bury have confirmed that Tim Lees will take charge as first-team manager on an interim basis until the end of the 2025/26 season as the club looks to restore stability following a period of upheaval.

Bury have confirmed that Tim Lees will take charge as first-team manager on an interim basis until the end of the 2025/26 season as the club looks to restore stability following a period of upheaval.

Lees, who has been with the club since he joined as assistant manager back in 2023, is a highly regarded member of the club’s football staff.

He steps into the role after the departure of Michael Jolley, who left just two days after his appointment.

The Shakers say the move provides continuity as they focus on maintaining momentum on and off the pitch for the remainder of the campaign.

Stability

Lees will be supported by Sam Ashton, who will play a key role within the first-team setup and offer additional experience during the interim period.

In a statement released by the club, Bury confirmed they will now begin a thorough process to appoint a permanent manager ahead of the 2026/27 season, allowing time to plan strategically while keeping full focus on current objectives.

Lees admitted that restoring stability and clarity back to the club was his immediate priority.
