Young Leaves Chester By Mutual Consent

boss Neil Young, who led the Blues to three consecutive league titles, has left the Deva Stadium by mutual consent.

Young was appointed the club's first manager after forming following the demise of Chester City. And he led the Blues back up the Pyramid and into 's top-flight after three league titles.

In their first season back in the Skrill Premier, Chester have found it tough going, winning just four of their 25 league games so far.

The Blues are just three points from safety but following a run of seven games without a win, Young has left his post.

Chester chairman Tony Durkin said: “On these occasions it is customary for the board of a club to issue a statement full of praise for the departing manager.

“Sometimes such words seem less than sincere.  But these words are straight from the heart. There is not a single Chester supporter who would not join us in stating that Neil Young has earned a genuinely historic place in the life of our club.  We will treasure the last three years and the success, and joy that his teams have brought us.

“He helped us rediscover our passion for our club and we will be forever grateful.  Through his hard work and leadership we were able to earn three back-to-back championships.  Neil goes with all our best wishes for him and his family.”

Gary Jones has taken caretaker charge of the Blues as they seek a replacement for former Colwyn Bay boss Young.
