ALDERSHOT TOWN have secured the signing of experienced former QPR goalkeeper Jake Cole from local rivals Woking.
The 30-year-old played 50 times in all competitions for the Cards last season, taking his total number of games with the Surrey outfit to 74 following his move from Plymouth in the summer of 2014.
The Hammersmith-born stopper started his career at QPR but only made six appearances in six years at Loftus Road, spending time on loan at Hayes, AFC Wimbledon, Farnborough, Oxford United and Barnet.
He was released by QPR in 2009, moving on to spend two years at Barnet before a three-year stint with Plymouth Argyle from where he moved to Woking.
Cole has opted to leave Kingfield, however, and team up with Shots boss Gary Waddock again after working under him in QPR's academy.
“This is a fresh start for me, but when a manager wants you it's a no-brainer,” Cole told the Aldershot website.
“He's helped me since my youth and I'm looking forward to working with him again. I've been here many times before in League Two and always enjoyed playing in Aldershot – I've had a few good results here as well! Now I hope I can help the club get back towards the Football League.”
Waddock added: “He's an experienced goalkeeper and he knows this level well. I was surprised that he is only 30, it's a relatively young age for a goalkeeper but he's got good Football League experience, and that will be key for us.
“He's aware of how we want to play and he'll get us playing out from the back, but also playing some quick, counter-attacking football as well, so his distribution will be key to the way we play.”
