Adam Murray: “Unbelievable” number of players interested in signing for Boston United

THE number of players interested in joining is “unbelievable” according to boss Adam Murray – and the club have already welcomed Conference winner Jamie McGuire.

Former Mansfield boss Murray has moved the club's training base closer to the M1 to make it easier for players to get to.

And the move has already paid dividends. McGuire, who retired from full-time at the end of last season to take a coaching role in Mansfield's academy, has signed up for the new season.

The 33-year-old made 107 appearances in League Two over the past four seasons and will be hoping to help Boston compete in the competitive .

Delighted Muray told the Chad: “The number of players we have had meetings with in the past two weeks has been unbelievable. We are already seeing players and agents lower their terms and expectations.

“He (McGuire) had offers from League Two clubs but has chosen a pathway that leads him to choose a part-time option now.

“He's a leader of men with fantastic experience and I am over the moon he choose us to move forward with his journey.”

McGuire is the fourth signing Murray has made so far as the Pilgrims prepare for next season with in-demand Barnsley centre-back Jack Cowgill, 20, putting pen to paper after a successful loan spell in the with Braintree.

The boss added: “It's definitely a coup for us to land a player of Jack's calibre.

“He was in demand from clubs higher up the Pyramid but he has turned down those advances to join our project at Boston United. We are delighted to have him here.”

Murray has also raided Boston's Lincolnshire rivals for goalkeeper George Willis and defender Bradley Beatson.

Trinity will receive compensation for the pair as they were offered new deals and were both under the age of 24.
