THE despair of appearing in an FA Cup quarter-final with Chelsea in 1997 only to miss out on the semi-final and a victorious final gave Hayes and Yeading manager Paul Hughes his biggest disappointment as a player.
As a manager who watched his side come within four minutes of knocking League Two promotion contenders Carlisle out of the FA Cup last Sunday, the agony was similar.
