STAMFORD picked up their first win of the season by a single goal against Coventry Sphinx.
The visitors took the game to Stamford from the off. Kyle Carey picked the ball up in the middle of the park and unleashed a curling effort that was just wide of the post.
The Daniels weathered the storm and good ball over the top allowed Jack Duffy to showpiece his pace, and he raced clear on goal but took too many touches allowing the defender to get back for a last-ditch tackle.
