■ MALDON AND TIPTREE booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup with a convincing win against Canvey Island at The Drewitt-Barlow Stadium.
Two second-half goals from former Ipswich Town striker Freddie Sears made sure of the win against their fellow Isthmian North visitors.
Despite dominating long periods of the tie, home fans had to wait until the 72nd minute before seeing their side break the deadlock as Sears continued his fine scoring form with a neat finish on the six-yard box from a Cameron James cross.
