The day my dream came true

MATT Badcock’s article on the FA Vase (NLP, September 10) encapsulated the unbridled joy which comes with longterm supporters who never dare dream that their team would stride out on the hallowed Wembley turf.
I saw it in 2016 as Morpeth Town beat Hereford in the Vase final but more personally when my team FC Halifax Town unexpectedly beat Grimsby Town 1-0 to win the FA Trophy.
I have been supporting Halifax for 75 years having seen my first match at the Shay in 1942. Since then I have probably seen twothirds of the games and lots of away matches as well, even though I lived 40 miles ...
