ENFIELD Town were playing their first pre-season friendly just four weeks after forming when the referee asked if they had any match balls and corner flags.
“We’d done all the big things to start a club but hadn’t thought of that!” laughed chairman Paul Reed, pictured below.
“We had to get a manager, a team, give people volunteering jobs, we got everything together and forgot a couple of the little things. It all seems a long time ago now – we’ve signed players who weren’t even born when we first started it!”
