■ SPORTS started their campaign in style against much-fancied Herne Bay. Jordan Espirit put Sports into an early lead, rounding the keeper and scoring after just a minute.
Then, after 33 minutes, Herne Bay pulled one back.
Adem Ramadan found space and slotted home for the visitors who had been very much on top. Sports then came back to life and a 30-yard bending finish from Darryl Sanders made it 2-1 to the home side just before half time.
