CANVEY ISLAND eased their relegation worries with a deserved victory over Chatham Town.
The sides exchanged chances early on: Darren Foxley fired into the side netting for Canvey before Chatham tested Bobby Mason with a driven effort -all within the first 10 minutes.
The Gulls opened (and ultimately closed) the scoring on 19 minutes. Conor Hubble’s left wing free kick was met by Elliot Ronto, who sent a powerful header beyond Joe Wright despite the keeper getting a hand to it.
