■ JAMES Ding’s penalty just before the break saw Eastbourne beat already relegated Phoenix Sports.
The penalty came after Ollie Davies was hauled down by Andrew Zambrand-Reascos. Up stepped Ding, who slotted home his 16th goal.
It was the bright spark in a tough first half with neither side threatening the goal in the Eastbourne sunshine.
After the break, the visitors flew out of the traps, raining shots down on the Town goal but, it was well defended by Chris Winterton.
