HUNGERFORD stood firm and held out for three points in a game of two halves against Basingstoke.
There was a chaotic start with three goals being scored in the first six minutes of the match.
A mix-up at the back between Jack Ball and stand-in keeper Max Evans led to a Hungerford penalty that captain Louis McGrory duly converted.
But Basingstoke went straight up the other end and Brad Wilson met Ben Cook’s cross with a sweet volley into a bottom corner.
