SHAQUILLE Gwengwe scored the only goal as Poole extended their record of having not lost a home game since February.
Poole went nine games unbeaten at home to move in to the play-off places with a narrow victory where the strong wind was a major factor. Chertsey started the brighter, dominating possession with some neat passing football. After five minutes Poole gave the ball away cheaply with Jack Mazzone firing just wide.
Jordan Gallagher looked like he was in on goal unmarked but keeper Adam Parkes forced him wide.
