■ THE New Year freeze hit the league hard with only two games being completed.
It meant a day off for all the teams in the top eight, so Little Oakley remain just ahead of SOUL Tower Hamlets, with eight teams, from third to tenth, separated by just six points.
There was farce at Lower Road, where Hullbridge Sports’ game against Buckhurst Hill was abandoned after three minutes, the referee ruling the pitch too dangerous to continue.
Benfleet were the big losers on the day because, if they had beaten Athletic Newham they would have risen into a play-off place.
