TROY Howard’s late strike secured an important point for Welling United with a draw at Wingate & Finchley.
Loïc Hernandez ensured the hosts got off the best possible start, slotting past Mackenzie Foley inside eight minutes.
The remainder of the first-half was hugely cagey and uneventful, with strong winds playing their part throughout.
Just before the break, the Wings struck the post from a header, their only opportunity of note.
