King’s Lynn Town skipper Michael Clunan has swapped running the midfield for running the boardroom after being named as the club’s interim chief executive.
The 32-year-old, who rejoined the Linnets from Scunthorpe last summer, will be responsible for “day-to-day” operations and “strategic direction” whilst a permanent solution is found.
The club explained: “Michael will oversee the club’s day-to-day operations and strategic direction during this transitional period, working closely with staff and stakeholders on the ground to ensure stability and clear direction.
“His football and financial background, along with his knowledge of the local community, give confidence in his suitability for the role.
“He will be supported by Bal Srai, Chief Executive of Turn Sports Investments, who will continue to provide ongoing investment oversight and strategic support on behalf of ownership while the club undertakes the process to identify and appoint a permanent CEO.”
Meanwhile, former Birmingham and Celtic midfielder Paul Caddis will continue as Linnets manager next season, along with his assistant Adam Rooney.
The 38-year-old took charge in March following his departure at Hereford and led the club to safety in National League North.
A statement read: “Since taking charge under challenging circumstances, the duo have demonstrated strong leadership, professionalism, and a clear commitment to the club’s ambitions.
Leaving the club, however, are long-serving goalkeeper Paul Jones and club legend Adam Marriott, who scored 58 goals in 83 games in a previous spell at the Linnets.
The pair are among 13 players being released following the end of the season.
