A moment of remembrance was held in honour of Chichester City striker Billy Vigar and Macclesfield’s Ethan McLeod at the National Game Awards.
McLeod sadly lost his life in an accident while driving home from the Silkmen’s National League North game at Bedford Town back in December.
His death came just a few weeks before John Rooney’s side famously beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third round. McLeod’s family were present and they were moving scenes after as they congratulated all the players in the changing room.

Vigar suffered significant brain injuries. His passing was met with an outpouring of tributes from across the world of football including current Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
After the moment of reflection on Wednesday, Vigar’s agent Luca Ramon and Chichester City coach Darin Kilpatrick paid an emotional tribute to the 21-year-old.
As well as sharing fond memories of Vigar’s talent, professionalism and personality, Ramon also urged the whole of the football community to use its “collective responsibility” to ensure such a tragedy never happens again.
Vigar’s family are determined to see the former Eastbourne Borough loanee’s legacy live on by continuing to campaign for safety measures to be implemented for all perimeter fencing and surrounds at all sports stadia.
