HEDNESFORD TOWN are searching for their third manager of the season after boss Paul Casey resigned after just three months in the job.

Liam McDonald started the season in charge of the Pitmen but he left after six months at the helm to take over at National League side Solihull Moors.

The Evo-Stik NPL Premier club, relegated from Step 2 last season, quickly moved to appoint Casey, a former Hednesford youth team manager, as their new boss.

Casey returned to Keys Park from Midland League Premier side Coleshill Town, who he had got flying high in the Step 5 division.

At the time of his appointment, Casey said it was his “destiny” to become Hednesford boss and he was handed an 18-month contract just two weeks after taking charge.

However, the boss has quit after just three months in the dugout after a run of indifferent results saw the Pitmen slip down to mid-table.

Casey won three, drew one and lost six of his ten league games in charge and Hednesford are now looking for their third manager of the campaign to get their play-off charge back on track.

In a brief statement, the club said: “Following a meeting with Hednesford Town Football Club officials this morning (Tuesday, February 7) we can confirm that Paul Casey has resigned from his position as first team manager.”
