BOBBY WILKINSON has been handed a new two-year deal as Hungerford Town boss with the aim of taking the club into the Vanarama National League.

Wilkinson was handed the extension by Hungerford’s new executive committee launched by chairman Nigel Warrick to “dynamically manage the club through the next few years”.

The club have seen six seasons of continued improvement since Wilkinson’s appointment as manager in the 2009-10 season.

He led the club to promotion through the Southern South & West play-offs in 2012-13 and the Crusaders made it into the Southern Premier play-offs last term before narrowly losing to Truro City.

Hungerford are unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and are currently fifth in the league ahead of Saturday’s trip to Cirencester Town.

A club statement read: “The first decision made by the new HTFC executive committee was to offer Bobby Wilkinson a further two years’ contract extension with a target of getting HTFC into the Conference Leagues.

“Having been promoted in the 2008-9 season, Nigel Warrick brought in Bobby Wilkinson as senior team manager and it has been six seasons of continued improvement.”
