Aaron Hayden’s 20th-minute volley proved decisive as Carlisle United ended the National League’s last remaining unbeaten record with a hard-fought win at Scunthorpe.
But the 10-man Iron did not go down without a fight, dominating the second half despite having had skipper Andrew Boyce sent off five minutes before the break.
“Teams haven’t been able to come here and win – it’s been a long time since they’ve suffered a defeat here – so we’ll take that,” Carlisle boss Mark Hughes said.
