Yeovil Town have bolstered their defensive options in the National League with a double signing this week.

The Glovers have brought in George Nurse on a one-month loan from Shrewsbury Town and Michee Efete on a deal until the end of the season.

Nurse has only made five appearances this season for the League Two outfit, and in an attempt to gain more regular game time, has made the switch to Huish Park.

The left-back has a wealth of experience in the football league, including previous loan stints at Newport County and Walsall, before joining Shrewsbury.

Fantastic addition

The former Bristol City academy graduate also played in the National League South for Weston-super-Mare back in the 2018-19 campaign

However, with his debut upcoming in the fifth tier of English football, manager Richard Drysden said of the 26-year-old: “George is a fantastic addition for us.

“He’s got real quality, great experience, and that bit of athleticism that can make a big difference at both ends of the pitch.

“This move gives us important cover while James Plant continues his recovery, and we’re delighted to have George with us initially for the month.”

Great pedigree

After the morning announcement, Yeovil confirmed another arrival in Congolese right-back Efete.

The 28-year-old joins on a free after his previous stint in Scotland with Ross County. He has also played for Wealdstone, Billericay Town, Bath City, Maidstone United, Torquay United and Grimsby Town.

Efete was a part of the Mariners side that achieved promotion to the EFL via the National League play-offs back in the 2021/22 campaign – although he was not a part of the matchday squad that beat Solihull Moors 2-1 at the London Stadium.

Dryden added on his latest recruit: “Michee’s a player with great pedigree at this level. He’s athletic, reliable, and brings a fantastic attitude.

“He knows what it takes to succeed in this league, and he’ll be an excellent addition for us.”
