SOUTHPORT’S 12-game unbeaten league run finally came to an end as their ten men narrowly lost at high-flying Altrincham.
Captain Jake Moult found the net in the second half of a hard fought win for The Robins before Liam Edwards saw red for the Sandgrounders.
The visitors had the majority of first-half chances.
David Morgan fired several long shots just wide, and Bradley Bauress’ rasping effort was well saved by Alty custodian Tony Thompson.
