SPENNYMOOR’S slow start to the campaign continued as they were heavily beaten by league leaders York City at The Brewery Field.
In front of a crowd of over 1,500, Spennymoor were playing on their new state-of-the-art pitch for the first time.
But York proved the party poopers as goals from Sean Newton, a James Curtis own goal and Kallum Griffiths opened up a three-goal lead before Ben McKenna reduced the deficit just before the break. Adriano Moke completed the scoring 13 minutes from time.
