ALFRETON TOWN 3
DARLINGTON’S delayed season finally got under way 532 days since last playing in front of a home crowd, but their fans were left deeply disappointed.
They were second best at Blackwell Meadows with most of the damage being done within the first hour when they were 3-0 down and it could have been more.
It was 2-0 at the break with Elliott Reeves and Tom Allan scoring after set-pieces.
Alfreton looked like scoring at every corner, free-kick or long throw, with heavyweight target man Matt Rhead a threat against Quakers’ youthful defence.
