NEW Blyth manager Terry Mitchell made his home bow and Spartans legend Robbie Dale came off the bench to make his 700th appearance – but they couldn’t prevent a 12th defeat from 13 games.
The form book suggested an away win and two scrappy second half goals from corners saw Southport stretch their unbeaten run to ten games.
After an early scare Blyth threatened from JJ O’Donnell and Michael Liddle deliveries, Nicky Deverdics just wide from Liddle’s cross.
