A GOAL after 49 minutes by Jack Holmes earned Hereford their second away victory in five days, against a Southport side who have now lost three on the spin.
Neither side created too many chances in a turgid first period, the best chance fell to the visitors after just two minutes when Ryan McLean’s effort was cleared off the line by Charlie Oliver.
Southport’s best opportunity came on the quarter-hour when a looping header from Adam Anson hit the top of the Hereford bar and went to safety.
