HEADERS at either end in the second half produced a fair result to an evenly contested game that featured 14 debutants. For the opening 25 minutes Buxton dominated possession without scoring.
A fine Tommy Elliott diagonal pass, then good work on the right by the two Sams, Smart and Minihan, forced a corner, before Connor Kirby fired low from 28 yards past the far post.
However, the Pilgrims’ first attack just before the half-hour went mighty close to scoring, with first keeper Max Dearnley then Kirby clearing from the line.
