DARLINGTON survived a second-half Chester fightback and ten agonising minutes of added time to secure a shock win at Blackwell Meadows.
Quakers began the day bottom with Chester eighth, so few had predicted a home win.
They had some luck in taking the lead after 18 minutes. Ben Hedley delivered a cross to the far post and, in attempting to clear, Chester left-back Joel Taylor managed to send a looping header over Wyll Stanway.
