National League North

Match Preview: Gloucester City v Scunthorpe United (Saturday, 3pm)

Gloucester City are on a terrible run ahead of hosting Scunthorpe United at New Meadow Park on Saturday, with just one point collected from their last six games.

The Tigers have picked up just one draw in their last six National League North games, and face an Iron side whose last six games have brought four wins and one draw.

With 82 goals in 45 games so far this season, Scunthorpe are the league’s highest scorers with 1.8 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 37 goals at a rate of 0.8 per game.

Gloucester, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.1 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have conceded 1.9 goals per game.

City are 23rd in the table after 45 games, of which they have won nine and drawn nine, earning 36 points.

United are 21 places ahead of the Tigers in second, with 25 wins and 10 draws putting them on 85 points.

Gloucester’s last match was on April 13, a 4-1 loss against Curzon Ashton.

Scunthorpe beat Blyth Spartans 5-1 last time out, also on April 13.
