A Paul Blackett first-half goal was the difference between the sides in a scrappy bottom-half clash against strugglers Needham Market in the National League North.
Blackett threatened early on after Dylan Stephenson headed the ball down to Shields’ top scorer, whose low half-volley was palmed out by Marcus Garnham.
Blackett would fire in the match’s only goal soon after.
Martin Smith’s long diagonal ball picking out the Mariners’ number nine who dispatched from close range at the near post.
