SHIELDS SITTING PRETTY AT TOP

SOUTH SHIELDS kept their unbeaten record with a win at Curzon Ashton in the torrential rain.
The Mariners took the lead after 18 minutes when the unmarked Paul Blackett rounded Curzon keeper Callum Hawkins to slot home.
As conditions got worse and the ball started to hold up in patches South Shields went close with some nice play as Cain Sykes was played down the right-hand side before getting his effort away went straight into the hands of Hawkins.
