National League South will be the toughest season yet, says Welling United manager Steve King

With the likes of Billericay Town, Torquay United, Woking and Dulwich Hamlet entering the division for the 2018/19 season, the new Wings boss is expecting a challenging year.

Welling United manager Steve King is anticipating the coming National League South season to be the toughest since it was formed.
With the likes of Billericay Town, Torquay United, Woking and Dulwich Hamlet entering the division for the 2018/19 season, the new Wings boss is expecting a challenging year.
He told the club’s website: “After meeting with Mark [Goldberg], I liked the idea of what he’s trying to do and the project.
“My aim as manager is to get the club into the National League. Our aim will be a minimum of the play-offs despite this year being the toughest National League South since it started.
“I really feel I can bring attacking and entertaining football.
“I will sit down with the whole squad and talk to them about my thoughts and plans. I know every player at this level, so I don’t need to assess them and watch them, which helps”
“I try not to use loans where possible, especially starting from fresh. I like to get a core so they get used to playing with each other.
“I don’t mind where they come from, as long as they put on the shirt and give everything.”
