GOSPORT slipped further adrift of National League safety after being held to a draw by Weston-super-Mare in a tense but exciting affair.
It looked a precious point for Alex Pike’s men who let a crucial lead, gained through Sam Lanahan’s early goal, slip, but combined with Whitehawk’s win at East Thurrock it means they fall slightly further away from safety.
Gosport drew first blood as Joe Lea supplied a perfect cross from the right and Lanahan only needed to apply the slightest touch at the near post to beat keeper Luke Purnell.
