NEW-LOOK Havant & Waterlooville claimed their biggest ever opening-day victory – and their first for 10 years – at the expense of poor Welling United at Westleigh Park.

The Hawks fielded 12 new signings and they comfortably had enough to clip the Wings with James Roberts, Scott Rendell and Billy Clifford all on target.
It took only six minutes to open the scoring. Defender Joe Oastler hit a long-range free-kick, Rendell headed the ball back to the on-rushing Roberts, who crashed home via the post.
