AARON Blair’s first-half strike ensured Braintree Town cemented their places in the top three with a vital win at fellow play-off hopefuls St Albans City.
Blair nodded home the winner on 21 minutes after Freddie Sears’ initial effort was saved by Michael Johnson.
It came slightly against the run of play as St Albans started the brighter, denied the lead inside a quarter of an hour when Iron goalkeeper Jack Sims raced quickly off of his line to turn away Dom Hutchinson’s effort.
