CHELMSFORD City won a hard-fought battle against league new boys Horsham.
Charlie Hester-Cook had half an opening for the Hornets just after the half hour but he struck the ball into the side netting from a narrow angle.
Horsham had the first real shot on target of the game early in the second half when a cross from the left found Ola Ogunwamide and his header was well saved by City keeper Chris Haigh.
