Chelmsford City have parted company with Angelo Harrop during a crucial stage of the season, with the club still in contention for a National League South play-off place.
The Clarets remain within reach of a top-seven finish with six games left to play; however, inconsistent results this season, including a recent run of form with just two wins out of the last seven games, have resulted in his exit.
Harrop’s arrival was confirmed towards the closing stages of last season, shortly after his departure from rivals Braintree Town.
He had guided the Iron to promotion to Non-League’s top flight in 2023-24, notably ending Chelmsford’s own play-off hopes with a semi-final victory before going on to beat Worthing in the final.
Parted company
However, he was dismissed the following season, following a difficult start in the National League.
Having been lined up as the successor to Robbie Simpson, he was viewed as a key part of the club’s longer-term plans to become a Football League side.
Yet after just 10 months in the role, Chelmsford chairman Spencer Gore has opted to make a change in the dugout, confirming in a short statement: “Chelmsford City Football Club can confirm that it has parted company with Angelo Harrop with immediate effect.
“The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Angelo for his efforts and contribution during his time at the club and wish him well for the future.
“Ricky Holmes will take charge as interim manager in the short term. The club will provide a further update in due course.”
Holmes will take charge of the Good Friday encounter with Enfield Town.
