Alan Julian takes charge of Slough Town following Scott Davies’ departure

New Slough Town manager Alan Julian says the club will need “every ounce” of passion from the Rebels faithful as he takes over from Scott Davies.

New Slough Town manager Alan Julian says the club will need “every ounce” of passion from the Rebels faithful as he takes over from Scott Davies.

The National League South side were left without a manager after Scott Davies ended his eight-year spell at Arbour Park to take charge of former club Aldershot Town.

Former Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Julian now steps in, who enjoyed a long playing career with the likes of Stevenage, Gillingham, Bromley and Billericay Town.

He inherits a side established at Step 2 level since 2018 and returns to management after leaving the Beavers back in December.

Delighted

Following his appointment, Julian said: “First things first, I’d like to say that I am absolutely delighted to be joining Slough Town Football Club.

“The discussions with Ashley, Tristan and Simon have been nothing but positive, and the drive and ambition they have really excites me about the club.

“I’ve had many experiences at Arbour Park over the years, and one thing that has always impressed me is the passion and support the crowd gives the team.

“We will need every ounce of this moving forward.

“I can assure you all that I will do everything in my power to make everyone proud of the team in the coming season.

“Let’s get to work!”

He added: “On a personal note, I’d like to wish Scott Davies all the very best in his role at Aldershot. He did an amazing job here, and I’m sure everyone at the club wishes Scotty well.”

High calibre

The 42-year-old ex-shotstopper joined Hampton & Richmond in 2020 as a player, making more than 80 appearances and reaching the 700-game mark in his career.

He later moved into coaching before stepping up as manager in May 2024, guiding the club to National League South safety despite limited resources.

However, a difficult run of form at the start of this season saw the Beavers slip into the relegation zone, leading to his departure in December.

Slough CEO Ashley Smith said: “We are delighted that Alan Julian has accepted the role of first-team manager.

“Following an extensive recruitment process that attracted more than 100 applicants of an exceptionally high calibre, Alan stood out throughout.

“During the process, he demonstrated outstanding qualities both as a person and as a professional, as well as an excellent knowledge of the game and the National League South, together with a strong ambition to achieve success.

“His values and core principles are closely aligned with those of the club, which makes us excited for the next chapter at Slough Town.

“We can’t wait for the Rebels faithful to meet Jules, and we will be announcing an opportunity for supporters to do so at a fans’ forum in the coming days.”
