■ THE game started feisty with both teams going toe to toe trying to break through.
On the 25th-minute mark, ex-Heybridge player Matthew Price took it around the keeper to finish into an empty net. Heybridge responded when Jack Adlington-Pile hit a rocket into the top corner. Just before half time, Heybridge’s Callum Chafer made a great save to keep the score level.
Canvey started the stronger of the two teams in the second half and got their reward from a goalline scramble when Evangelos Empochontsif tapped home.
