MARLOW secured victory by a single goal at Basingstoke as Nathan Smart put the ball in his own net in a game filled with controversy.
The first flashpoint came just six minutes in as Marlow’s Junaid Bell went through ‘Stoke winger George Reid in a full-blooded challenge that earned him a yellow card.
Marlow edged the first half and had a golden chance to open the scoring as Jordan Brown was tripped in the box.
Brown took the penalty himself but home keeper Paul Strudley produced an excellent save.
