Joan Luque joins Folkestone

Joan Luque

Former Barcelona youth Joan Luque has signed for Folkestone Invicta.

The Pitching In Isthmian League Premier side have brought in the attacking player from Worthing.

Spaniard Luque was on Barcelona’s books until the age of 13, and moved to England in 2017.

His form at Heybridge Swifts earned a move to Lincoln City, before he dropped back into non-league.

In 2021/22 he scored 20 goals in 23 appearances for Maidstone United as they won National League South, but a knee injury at the end of the campaign meant he missed their return to Step 1.

He was released a year ago and joined Worthing, before ending the season on loan at AFC Totton.

Folkestone Invicta manager Andy Drury told the club’s official website:

“It’s a signing myself and the chairman have worked hard on over the last couple of weeks.

“Joan has fantastic ability with the ball, a good work ethic without it and he will be a huge part of team this season.

“He wants to be part of a successful team. I’m delighted he has chosen to come to us despite all the offers he had elsewhere.”
