Two men bailed after raid on Newcastle Town’s stadium

TWO men have been arrested and bailed until next month following a break-in at Newcastle Town’s Aspire Stadium

TWO men have been arrested and bailed until next month following a break in at Newcastle Town’s Aspire Stadium.

Castle were left with thousands of pounds worth of damage following the raid in the early hours of Friday.

Police have confirmed that two men aged 35 and from the Stoke-on-Trent area were arrested and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The Evo-Stik NPL Division One South side finished third last season before losing in the play-off semi-final to Sutton Coldfield Town.

A club statement read: “Newcastle Town Football Club was left devastated after burglars broke into the Aspire Stadium early on Friday morning, causing thousands of pounds of damage to a number of places in the ground. This is not a situation the club wishes to be in so close to the new season.

“Televisions, alcohol and food were taken from both the boardroom and snack bar.

“As many people will know this club is run by hard working volunteers who give up their spare time to improve and push Newcastle forward, and everyone involved with the club has been left saddened by the event.

“Please continue to support the club as we continue to repair the damage and improve the security around the stadium.”
