TWO first-half goals were good enough for Ashton to see off their visitors from Derbyshire now managed by ex-Robins boss Paul Phillips.

The Gladiators started the better as a great climb by Reece Kendall saw his header cleared by Harry Coates. On eight minutes some fine control saw Ben Hardcastle shoot past the far post and Callum Chippendale glanced Alex Byrne’s free-kick narrowly wide for the visitors.
